Hi all! I just got into vaping when an old friend of mine actually bought me an ego-c for my 30th bday (which just passed on Friday). When I posted on Twitter that I wanted to quit smoking analogs (cold turkey) when I turned 30, he went online and purchased me a kit from ConstantVapor.com. I got my kit June 11th, and have been analog free since then. When my BF smokes analogs around me, the smell of it makes me want to gag. I honestly can't believe I used to smoke cigarettes for so long! BF is actually thinking of getting a kit for himself, since I started, just so that we can vape together. To be honest, vaping has been the best decision for my health that I've made in a long time.2 points

The Innokin iTaste VV version 3 with VW and passthrough This is one I'll be saving up for! They're not expensive, about 50 for the kit with the iClear's added. I love the retractable charger! I hope they are as sturdy as they look and stand the test of time. I already want to recommend them to others lol. Patience dear, patience.2 points

Hello, I'm Hoosier. I started vaping just after Christmas in 2009, so I'm not new to vaping. Just new here. Basics: Used to smoke American Spirit non-filters I started with standard Joye 510's....bunches of batteries... I'm a dripper and currently use a Fatty v1 most of the time but carry around a DCA loaded with an I06 in case I'm out and about and unable to repair my rebuildable dripping atty. It's a rare thing when my ProVari is not in my hands or in my pocket. I'm president of the Hoosier Vapers club and usually spend my time on forums promoting vape meets and gathering news that impacts vapers in Indiana and elsewhere. I've been vaping my own mixes, exclusively, for about 3 years, but do enjoy sampling vendor juice at meets just to see if I still prefer my own...and haven't found a reason to buy someone else's juice yet. Looking forward to exploring this forum and getting to know the folks on here.2 points

Root beer 30 ml at 24mg: 50/50 mix of pg/vg 10 drops root beer flavoring 2 creme de menthe flavoring 3 marshmallow flavoring I hope it works well. It worked for my tastes. You could always add some more root beer if you want it heavier.2 points

I actually just doubled everything but the sweetener and it came out awesome! I'll post the recipe later today.2 points

Lol crime. Man sometimes I get so worked up in the question I don't even notice my spelling errors or grammar errors. Anyway thanks kit ill have to pick up a menthol flavoring then.2 points

MP. We must be neighbors. You might want to try Platinum Vapes too. You can taste test there too. On line ive had the best juices from Sweet-Vapes and from Vape Dudes so far. But when you start out its best to be able to test and find what you like. It is vapor only does 60/40 pg/vg mix and Platinum only does 50/50. On line you can mix what you like and get custom mixes. Best is to try out first then you can go on line and go crazy with flavors2 points

Well I bought him a 1300mah vision spinner and the vapeonly bcc mini. I also picked him up a 10 pack 3ml sampler from tvr. Let's hope he will make an attempt to stick with it. Only time will tell.2 points

So I've been vaping for quite awhile. I personally use a mechanical mod with an rda as my daily driver. My father-in-law has been smoking the stinkies for a little over 30 years and his last report from the doc said his COPD is getting worse. We've attempted to convert him many times to ecigs but he is hardwired old school and doesn't have the desire or patience for any "crack-pipe" as he calls them. Well that was until the bad report he received about a week ago. I want to provide his initial setup for him. I plan on getting a couple vision spinners but I don't know what is good these days as far as clearos etc. I know he won't have the patience for cartos just yet so that'll wait. I literally think he needs the most simple fill and go possible that will give him a decent vape. The last clearo I used personally was a Kanger T3 and I was not impressed. I've used vivi's with varying levels of success. My wife loves the iclear30 but I don't think he'll go for the size of it or the swivel tip. So basically I'm looking for something that will be used on an ego style battery that is super simple to fill and works decently. I know that's probably asking a lot but lets see what suggestions you guys have. Thanks in advance and I admit I feel kinda silly asking this considering I'm far from being new. I just haven't used a simple setup in over a year...lol. Thanks! Happy vaping! -mse121 point

I thought I'd try peanut butter on a whim. But only because I was able to taste test it and I was surprised how much I actually liked it. But then I tend to like coffee and nutty flavors more than anything else. But the shocker came when I realized that peanut butter seems to suit marriage with other flavors and although I do like berry and fruit flavors, I just can't vape them all day. As it turns out I can mix it with my fruit flavors and vape it all day and that's good because now I'm using up my juices. Plus I thought it would be fun to "DIY" even if you pros are laughing at the noob, lol1 point

I'm stoked,he mentioned that the MVP will be coming out with the same features! The MVP will be the one for me,I almost pulled the trigger on the 1st MVP several times but was put off by the lack of an ohm meter and some reported probs with the charging port. Looking forward to a new PV again1 point

Thank you uma! I don't know that I'll be purchasing it that soon... Given I have spent a ton of money on my DIY start up and bought an Itaste vv mod kit and some extras for my current setup. But I will be keeping an eye out for them!1 point

Make another batch without sweetener and combine with the too sweet batch? sometimes that drop of menthol can decrease the sweetness. try the creme de menthe (just a drop) and see what happens.....trial and error.1 point

So far my least favorite has been the Marlboro blend that I can buy in my local shop. It's pretty rancid actually.1 point

At the risk of sounding like a jerk.. What is CRS? And I will definitely let you guys know if I can find a good price on them in the future. Also on a side note. I made a root beer today but I added to much sweetener so.... Any suggestions as how to counteract that?1 point

menthol flavoring works a bit better, but the creme de menthe helps.....just very small amounts !! ya, I've lots count of all the flavorings. I have my staples, but keep all the rest just in case or to spice up a flavor.1 point -

awesome! thanks thats exactly what i was looking for. i figure since i have started the trend with E-Cigs here in my family and friends i might as well invest somewhat heavily in mixing my own flavors since they will most likely want to do the same thing. and on some of the sites i was looking to buy just PG or VG and they are like 20ml for 6 dollars. that seemed kinda pricey considering i bought 125ml of nicotine for 15 dollars. sorry for such a long post on the last one.1 point

Diy-How To Basics

I've highlighted the items I use most often when mixing. the 3ml bottles are the most helpful for mixing small amounts. as far as the kit....sounds like a good combination of items, you may find you won't need some of it. but that part is up to you. Currently I use 100mg/ml nicotine for mixing.....Keep in mind, Its is very toxic at this strength, then again 60mg/ml is nothing to get careless with either. Most bases, flavorings etcs come in PG. for PG/VG mixes you need to take this into account. I use the eliquid recipe manager for android on my phone. can help manage PG/VG rations, multiple flavorings etc. These 2 links are for quart size PG and VG. you can buy it by the gallon(s) for cheaper, but it is way too much and will expire before you can use it. Before investing a ton in DIY, start small and see if you like it. http://www.amazon.com/Glycerin-Vegetable-Kosher-USP-Quart/dp/B004C7MTLA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372754260&sr=8-1&keywords=usp+vegetable+glycerin http://www.amazon.com/Propylene-Glycol-Food-Grade-Quart/dp/B005PZBRUC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372754187&sr=8-1&keywords=usp+pg Hope that helps a little. give a shout out if you need more info. We have a few DIYers on the forum. Merry Mixing1 point -

As you can tell, I love DIY. For me it started as a search for stronger flavors, as I am flavor challenged. I love the endless possibilities. If you have any questions or trouble, just ask. There are quite a few of us that love to help out.1 point -

Personally I think the atty/tank combos like what you find on cigalikes are probably the easiest refilling method I've ever used. Just fill the plain plastic cap and snap it on the atty - EASY. I use a Spinner and T2 combo and love it. So easy to fill with the coil head sticking well above the top of the tank, holds 2.4ml, and super easy to use. About $4 and replacement heads about $2 make it an easy choice for me at least. I get great taste, vapor, throat hit, the whole none yards. I am only a little over 2 months into vaping but these are far superior to anything else I have used.1 point -

How about Grandmas custard with a slight cinnamon hint on exhale... I mix this @ 36 mg nic/100% pg base, with a target of 12mg nic, 70pg/30vg Vanilla Custard 15% Bavarian Cream 3.5% eggnog 2% graham cracker 1.5% butter 1.75% sweetener (by HDV 5%sucralose) 5% + 2 drops french vanilla This gets better with a hot water steep, and a minimum of three days.. Although its hard to leave alone the next day!1 point

French Pipe 3% - 7% French Pipe flavor imported from China(RTS Vapes) ---Let me know if anyone else has this DIY flavoring, I haven't seen it anywhere else. 93% - 97% Unflavored base of your choice It all depends on how strong a flavor you like and I like it kind of strong so I go about 6% I've been going back to this flavor time and time again for over 3 years and it remains to be my fav tobacco flavor, it needs nothing else to compliment it.1 point

I find their negatives funny: "Some flavours (e.g. piña colada) have a lingering fragrance" I see it as an air freshener , it's better than an overbearing smoke smell radiating off you, or in the area your smoking. "Environmental concern about safe disposal of cartridges and batteries" I wouldn't see it any better than the cigg. packages thrown on the ground, or the buds left. They trash out more of an area than a e-cig cartridge. Never-less,the batteries are recyclable, and the cartridges, some plastic can be done the same I would think? Health wise- I have to agree, even though I ran before, my running now isn't as strained, so I personally see that their is health benefits to it. Interesting study, yet they need to do a wider range besides the small amount of people. Never-less, even their studies showed over 60% quit or lessened their regular smoking habits overall, any is better than none!1 point

All of my doctors and surgeons love PVs. Even while in the hospital last Dec, I not only vaped the entire time but handed out vendor cards to nurses that wanted to buy a PV for their family member(s) or themselves. You wouldn't BELIEVE how many nurses smoke analogs.1 point

This is exactly the kind of story the FDA and the pro banning people would LOVE. Of course it is totally illogical because you can also get sick from smoking. People who smoke clog up their airways and blood stream with smoke and poison and have heart attacks as a direct result of smoking every day. So obviously removing thousands of chemicals is the far safer option. BUT as you said, from all the misinformation and flat out BS, people when upset will jump to all kinds of crazy conclusions. I hope if your dad isn't vaping that he didn't go back to smoking...because while your uncle may have had some kind of reaction, he didn't die, AND if your father continues smoking he most likely eventually will have some kind of smoking related illness...it is a question of time. Why your dad would stop if he has had no problems I don't get. I mean WE KNOW what is in cigarettes and we KNOW it is dangerous. So I would always go with the most logical, safer choice. I have never claimed that vaping is 100% safe, but NOTHING is 100% safe. Driving down the street to get a gallon of milk isn't totally safe. So to me it is a logic issue. Excessive use of nicotine CAN cause a rapid heartbeat, chest pains, etc. But it will go away by stopping the consumption of nicotine. People have had these reactions using lozenges, gum, patch, and of course smoking too. In fact, RIGHT on the patches and all those stop smoking aids, there are warnings about all those things. So consuming nicotine in any manner can cause those symptoms. As far as the skin reaction, you can have a sensitivity to ANYthing....I mean people are allergic or sensitive to latex gloves...you can have sensitivity to PG, VG, the food flavoring and any other substance on the face of the earth. So of course the pro ban people will say EXACTLY what your parents are saying because naturally they want to get people to THINK this might be dangerous for some people. BUT I am an adult. I know that smoking is almost GUARANTEED to kill me, in some way, at some time, if I continue smoking 2-3ppd.....so as an adult I feel that I should be making the CHOICE of which products I choose to use. We don't know what is in EVERY nic liquid, and personally I would LOVE if it was made in the USA and there was a level of quality control we would feel more assured of. HOWEVER, knowing what is in cigarettes compared to what MIGHT be in the e cig....I will take my chances. For one thing I know right away I am getting rid of the danger of all the respiratory issues by vaping since there is no smoke inhaled that I am filling my lungs and airways with. But to answer your question....how will this affect these things....it depends who is interpreting such information. Where there blood tests showing that there was some high level of nicotine in his blood? All these same symptoms could be caused by eating all kinds of things too. I have had rashes on my chest and a pounding heartbeat, in NO WAY related to smoking OR vaping. There are tons of things that can cause those symptoms.....including numerous medications, vitamins, over the counter cold and allergy meds and so many other things it is nearly impossible to list them all. I find it hard to believe that it is from the vaping IF he has been vaping. For one thing, the nic level in the juice is NOT what you are actually getting into your body. You get far less nicotine vaping than smoking. I have smoked like really excessively when nervous and/or upset and made myself dizzy, lightheaded, pounding heartbeat and sick to my stomach......I never went to the hospital, I knew I had been chain smoking and so I just stopped smoking for a bit and it all subsided. I have also gotten nervous and gotten hives....from nerves....calm down and they go away. So first someone would have to show me that NOTHING else could have caused this problem and then show me blood tests where he had some sort of level of nicotine that caused this. BUT, it could be it was from vaping...he could have sensitivity to any of what is in there....>BUT then show me in the entire vaping community how many people this has happened to. Compare that to the percentage of smokers that get sick and DIE as a direct result of smoking. I will take my chances with vaping. I think the entire thing with the ban is WE ARE ADULTS....we should be FREE TO CHOOSE. If your dad and uncle know all the same information and choose to smoke, then that is THEIR choice. But I shouldn't have something taken away from me, just because some other person had a problem with it. Plus, I don't know what he was doing...maybe he was using some 36mg liquid, whereas I never go over 18mg.....or he was chain vaping....plus I don't know his age and medical history etc. There are just way too many variables involved. Good for YOU that you had a logical argument....it makes NO sense to consume an item that we KNOW contains dozens of carcinogens and other poisonous substances over something that MIGHT have trace amounts of something. Plus just because one person has a problem with something doesn't mean another will. Just like the people who have a problem with the PG and use VG....okay, I don't have a problem with the pg, so just because one person has a problem doesn't mean everyone will.....both pg and vg in general are safe. And even with sensitivity like a rash, or whatever....that can hardly be compared to emphysema or cancer. If vaping gave me a rash, I would still do it....better to have a rash and be alive than not have one and be dead. Anyway, I understand when people are scared and stressed they don't really think things all the way through very logically.....most people are shook up and making compulsive and reactive decisions without really thinking. SO maybe with time and your logic, your dad will realize that first of all, there is no real PROOF that this was from vaping and not something he ate, or a rash can be from a new clothing detergent or fabric softener or a million other things.....and even IF it was, doesn't mean it would ever do anything to your dad. As long as you keep vaping, because you are being logical. But personally, unless they PROVE that this was a nicotine overdose, I don't really buy it. and if it is that is something easily avoided....be careful how much nic you are using and if you are chain vaping, you have to be aware of the feeling when you are doing it too much....happens to me all the time because I am a chain vaper too. I hope your uncle is okay now! Sorry for rambling.1 point
