1St Day Without Analogs
kitsune and one other reacted to thehookahman for a topic
Today is the day! Ive tried cold turkey, switching to chewing tobacco and chewing enormous amounts of gum but for some reason i keep going back. Ive smoked for 19 years and I am getting tired of the smell and my lungs hurting when I wake up in the morning. First thing this morning I woke up took a puff off the e cig and was amazed. The taste and feel of the vapor was almost like having that first puff of the day. Really hope this works. Im getting tired of feeling like an addict and throwing my money away. Thank you for all the videos that have been posted. They are very helpful. Wish me luck2 points -
Just keep vaping. When I got my 510 kit last December (on a Tuesday) I vaped in the evening only and smoked by day at work. By Thurdsay I found myself missing my vape while I was at work. On Satuday morning I woke up and smoked my last analog with my coffee and then started vaping. For the first couple of months I continued to go out to the "smoke shack" at work to vape, but eventually ended up just vaping at my desk. Best advice is that when you get a craving, vape heavily. I did quite well early on, but found I got some killer cravings a few months down the road. The weren't often, but when they hit - oh man. I was able to vape through them and get through it. I'm pushing a year now and can say that over the past few months I don't recall having any cravings at all. I'll just add - don't beat yourself up if you need a cigarette once in a while. It's not a big deal.2 points

(Please only post questions OR additional noobie info in here to keep this thread clean. ie: no thank you, good post, etc, posts) This is to help you play catch up on what the veterans know. Basic ecig Parts A.) Cartridge - holds the ejuice and is also a mouth piece. this part can be replaced with a drip tip and is what most do B.) Atomizer - has an element that heats up the ejuice and as you pull air threw it vapor is produced. * sub B section - you can also use cartomizers, they are atomizers with filler to hold juice and are a tad shorter in size. C.) battery - these will be 3.7v Lithium Ion batteries, they supply the power to the atomizer. they come in auto (activated by suction) or manual (activated by button) Common Ecigs What's the best ecig This is more dependent on how you vape and your needs for vapor, throat/lung hit, battery life needs and other factors. Most people will advise the ego/tornado/riva as they all have a nice battery life and are built good (ego being the favorite of the three) this is the ego mega and regular batteries with manual buttons Ecig Model Numbers These are based on the atomizer they use when one says 510 kit, they generally are referring to the cigarette shaped ecig. like the first picture of this post. Why we tell you not to get cigarette shaped ecigs A cigarette shaped battery runs $12 for a normal manual 510 9hrs at $20 (ego battery) 540mins 45mins (510 kit battery) 540 ÷ 45 = 12 12 (batteries) x $12 = $144 so for mAh (Milliamp hours), it is a lot less expensive to buy a larger battery. this will also keep you from having to buy more batteries. explained after next set of math. 510 kit batteries needed for 9hrs 9hrs (540mins) ÷ (45min run time + 2hr charge time = 165mins) = 3.272727273 batteries needed to run 9hrs on 510 kit 3 x $12 = $36 - 1 ego battery = $20 = $16 saved. that is initial cost only!! 45min x 2 is what you have ready to go after your first needs charged (90mins). your first battery is going to take 2hrs to charge so by the time you run out the other two the first is done charging. so just to keep going you would need at bare minimum you want two 510 chargers, this means more $$. why you ask? at night when you don't have a single battery to use, you will only be able to charge 1 while you sleep. it would be more ideal to have 3 or one of the larger chargers that do more than one and have no less than 10 batteries ready to go. on top of this when you go out you will have a pocket full of batteries, making this not a very portable device to bring with you. other than that you have to recharge more often and the more you charge the more you replace. batteries have an # of recharges before they start failing to keep their charge. now you may say by logic that you are only charging once on those small batteries in that 9hr time, so there isn't an issue on life, BUT, the smaller the battery the less times you can charge it before the failing starts. also consider that you have 3 batteries that will fail First Order When you get an ecig make sure that you have spares of everything. the atomizers, cartomizers, batteries, and juice are all going to need purchased at some point again. Your first cart should consist of NO LESS than, 5 atomizers, 2 packs of cartomizers (5 in a pack), your kit, 2 extra batteries (i would advise mega batteries), 1 extra charger, and a nice amount of juice. the last thing you want is to have to wait on something you didn't buy enough of to come in. if one thing is missing you will go right back to smoking, nobody wants that. Mods and Why Mods are usually over looked or not even known to noobies of the ecig world. these devices can be anywhere from 3.7v to 8.4v. the point is that some people need one of two things, longer battery life with less cost and/or an aggressive throat hit. as a newbie i wouldn't advise a mod above 3.7v that doesn't have the option to go as low as 4.2v if it is not a variable voltage you are stuck on that till you get something lower if you don't like it. i say 4.2v because any 3.7v battery charges UP TO 4.2v. most people love vaping that initial fresh charged battery. voltage drops after usage to as low as 2.9v Mods will use batteries like these these are all 3.7v batteries with a much longer charge life vs a kit ecig. you can find almost all of these batteries from US suppliers for $5 each. a 3.7v mod using the largest battery (18650) can last you 4+ days @ $8 for the battery. some mods can last up to 4+ days before needing to be recharged. I'm not going to go into mods or pictures of mods. you can do that on your own, also watch youtube videos about the mods before thinking its large. the standard ones people use are silver bullet mako tekk mod (prone to cracking at the top unless you find someone that knows how to make them correctly) some sort of wetbox (check reviews of these missys wetbox fails quite often due to her under rated buttons and cost $15 to fix) (there are a crazy amount of mods out there, this is just a small list of the most talked about) Abbreviations General Noob - Beginner OP - Original Post(er) Analog - Regular Cigarette Mod - Homemade device or a Moderator. I'm not sure whether you guys are the same, I read a lot of questions of what to buy first time and it brings back memories to when I first started. my priorities were: must be shaped like a real cigarette don't really care about battery life cause I can charge it must have lots of batteries reliable atomizer end colour doesn't matter now after almost a year my priorities are: doesn't matter about shape doesn't matter about size must look like anything but a cigarette battery must last all day holds loadsa juice nice throat hit who cares about attys, they are consumable nice big batteries have other vapers priorities changed over their vaping years ?1 point

Congrats on purchasing the eGo, it's quite a remarkable pv which will make the switch over to vaping from analogs a delicious endeavor. (been there, done that!). It took me a week of vaping before the analogs were history. I had accidentally quit smoking analogs, like many others. All except 4 of those stinky little pestery cancer sticks. I had to make mental effort to rid myself of those... but my heart, tastebuds, satisfaction, and mind won that war as well. I counted the analogs I DIDN'T smoke and added one more to the list each day until VOILA... no more analogs! Give yourself some leeway and a plan. Don't try to quit smoking... just relax, start vaping, and see what happens. You'll be pleasantly surprised. (and then go kick butt with any remainders lol). Good Luck and Happy Vaping!1 point

Some juices that start off with no flavor maybe awesome in two weeks, revisit them and see what you think then. Seems like you got things going in the right direction, awesome!!1 point

The free liquid I got was the RY4. I like it. I also got an order in from DIY today too of the 555 I ordered last week. Talk about convenience. They also gave me a free sample of 0 nic shortbread cookie which was awesome. I ordered a bunch from vaporbomb that came in last week. Cinnabomb is ridiculously good. I also got their coffee which was ok. Their key lime tasted like nothing. Literally no flavor. I also made a custom blend of English toffee/ coffee and it was pretty good. They sent me a free sample of Irish cream 18 mg and it was really good too. All taste so much better on my ego than my crappy little ecig I 1st bought.1 point

I have become so engrossed in my whiskey overdose I have gone mad and built my second mod and even though I do say so myself, it looks like a vape of perfection! Suddenly my whiskey flavour has a whole new life (and taste) I want to make more! how about a budweiser one! king of vapes! tell me I'm wrong and it's not perfectly beautiful? well I love it and thats what matters and more to the point, it should get me through my weak whiskey stage1 point

vt has builk freedomsmokeusa you can get 120ml bottles of juice (use discount code newbie for 30% off, make your order huge because i think its for your first time only) vaporbomb does weekly 30ml bottles at $10, most of their juice is pretty inexpensive already though.1 point

Nun In A Cab
AimeeG reacted to Schizophretard for a topic
A cabbie picks up a Nun. She gets into the cab, and notices that the VERY handsome Cab driver won't stop staring at her. She asks him why he is staring. He replies: "I have a question to ask you but I don't want to offend you." She answers, "My son, you cannot offend me. When you're as old as I am And have been a nun as long as I have, you get a chance to see and Hear just about everything. I'm sure that there's nothing you could Say or ask that I would find offensive." "Well, I've always had a fantasy to have a nun kiss me." She responds, "Well, let's see what we can do about that: #1, you have to be single and #2, you must be Catholic." The cab driver is very excited and says, "Yes, I'm single and Catholic!" "OK" the nun says. "Pull into the next alley." The nun fulfills his fantasy, with a kiss that would Make a hooker blush. But when they get back on the road, the cab driver starts crying. "My dear child," says the nun, "why are you crying?" "Forgive me but I've sinned. I lied and I must confess, I'm married and I'm Jewish." The nun says, "That's OK. My name is Kevin and I'm going to a Halloween party.1 point -
Here's another "religious person" joke for you: The Pope is in the US and is getting fed up with the people like aides and security that constantly surround him. He says - "I want some time to myself". An aide says - "the President has put a private car at your disposal with a highly trusted driver - why not go for a drive around and chill out?" So the Pope is in the back of this nice car (with blacked out windows in the rear section) and he says to the driver _ "This is a Jaguar isn't it? - I always wanted to drive a Jaguar - can I have a go?" So the Pope gets in the front and the driver gets in the back... The Pope is a bit over-enthusiastic and get pulled over by a traffic cop... "Step out the car please..." the cop say to the Pope. So the Pope gets out... "Wait there" says the cop - and phones his Captain at the precinct... "Look boss" he says, "I think I might have stopped someone really important..." "Not the mayor again!" says the Captain "More important than the mayor!" says the cop "oh no! Not the President!!!" says the Captain "More important than that!" says the cop "More important than the President! Who is it for ****'s sake?" "I don't know - I don't like to look" says the cop, "but you won't believe who his driver is!!!!!!"1 point

The only side effect I've had from vaping is feeling incredibly awesome physically, mentally and emotionally!-1 points

Hi, I became really discouraged when I first started to direct dip. It's all that everyone was recommending here. I felt like I was following the instructions but, time after time I ended up with juice in the mouth and felt like I was drinking my e-liquid. I even gave up on it for a couple of weeks and went back to the filler. I kept at it tho, and lo-and-behold, now I vape it, and don't drink it! I put anywhere from 2 to 4 drops in the atty. I tip it a bit and don't really know where the juice lands inside the atty. I keep my 510 or eGo fairly horizontal when I vape. As already said, the drip tip (I use the shorty, wide-mouth Delrin) kind of keeps the juice from running all over the place. I don't think I've ever had 5-7 inhales on a 2-4 drop drip, but I try not to overfill regardless. Even with a carto, if you're a drop over, the juice can run through the drip tip and onto your tongue. I guess what I want to say is don't give up on direct dipping. While cartos are convenient and becoming ever popular, there is nothing like the flavor and vapor that comes from the direct dipping method. Gluck!-1 points

Hi, while it is interesting to read a concern about mold spores in cartomizer filling, there are mold spores, viruses and bacteria free-floating in the air around us. As an ex-smoker, I always have to weigh the fact that the chemicals and amounts of tar I was ingesting into my throat and lungs was destroying my health. All the 'testing' on analogs has not made people stop using them. Is it prudent to err on the side of caution? Yes, of course. Most everything we do in life has a risk factor. But am I going to become an alarmist over the fact that I use cartomizers on a regular basis, absolutely not!-1 points

Hi James, I ditto B80. Hang in there. This is a transition and it takes a little time for things to fall into place. I've received e-liquid I swore I was going to trash right away. But after reading a bit on the forum about e-liquid and reading some of the e-liquid reviews, what I did (this is just me) was do or die vape it for at least a day. What often happened is that the flavor began to grow on me. In the beginning our tastebuds are pretty dead and our sense of smell is off or even non-existent. What I thought was awful now tastes great and what I thought was great is, well, I certainly won't order it a second time! I guess vaping is a choice. Honestly, I don't know what I'd be doing if I still had to smoke analogs. Please let us know how it goes. There's a lot to think about, do and learn in the beginning. It will work if you want it to!-1 points

Hi onqun, I think what you may be tasting is the primer that is in the atomizer in a new kit. Unscrew the atty from the battery and blow through the open end into a kleenex or paper towel. Then add a drop or two of e-liquid into the atomizer. Place the cartridge back on the atty and then inhale. Sometimes it takes upward of a half-hour of vaping to get rid of the primer taste. Don't forget to keep adding e-liquid but, not too much. Hope this helps. Let us know!-1 points

Hi, welcome to the Vapor Talk Forum! Many of us, including myself, wanted an e-cigarette to look and be exactly like an analog. You can start out with a Joye510 which meets your current criteria. The only thing is the battery life of a 510 is about two hours, maybe it will be a little longer for you. If you look through the forum here, you will see many posts on purchasing the Joye eGo. In my mind, it's like a chubby 510 however, the battery life is considerably longer, about 6-12 hours between charges. 510 atomizers which you use on the stick mod are used with the eGo. I see that you just posted you want an automatic. There are pros and cons to the automatic, the biggest of which it is easy to short out an auto battery if e-liquid gets inside the battery. I don't have personal experience with automatic batteries but to add to this, even though e-cigarettes are marketed as a substitute for smoking analogs, vaping is an alternative and rather a unique experience. Good luck, don't hesitate to ask questions! We're here to help! PS: I don't think you can go by the experience of purchasing a pv from a gas station or kiosk in a mall. There are a lot of knock-offs in the marketplace. You'll do better purchasing a Joye from a reputable online vendor.-1 points

Hi, I think all kinds of analyses can be made regarding what, why, how and when we vape. I believe someone posted here on the forum that when we vape we're taking in less nic than when we smoked analogs. Idk the science behind that. However, in the beginning, vaping was new and exciting, for me. I couldn't put my pv down. I still have my eGo in my hand a lot of the time. It goes where I go. Am I vaping less after five months? Idk, I haven't monitored myself. I think the best argument to be made is the one elDuderino expressed. What an analog smoker is ingesting is a crime against humanity. And the known carcinogens that are in them to keep people smoking all over the world? Shame, shame, shame on the tobacco companies!!! Everyone has their personal goals. Some want to wean, some vape all day and night on 0mg, some vape very high levels of nicotine. I put in a vote for being grateful that I have this technology available to me. Vaping will certainly help no matter what decision I make in the future! Right now tho, 'Preacher Lily' loves to vape! So many choices in what pv's to buy, so many e-liquid flavors, so very much fun!-1 points

This is just the beginning of adding more and more restrictions on e-cigarettes. I wonder if there are any studies or polls on how many underage persons smoke analogs?-1 points
