How Do You Figure
nana and 2 others reacted to QuiksilverPR for a topic
The nicotine strength listed for e-liquid is the number of milligrams of nicotine per milliliter in a bottle. That means a 10ml bottle of 24mg nicotine e-juice would have 240mg of nicotine in it (24mg x 10ml). Likewise, a 30ml bottle of 24mg e-liquid would have 720mg of nicotine in it (24mg x 30ml). We all have an idea of how many drops of e-liquid we use each time we drip onto a cartridge or directly onto the atomizer. All we need to know then is how many drops of e-liquid are in a milliliter. There are approximately 20 drops of e-liquid per milliliter. So, using a 24mg nicotine e-juice once again as an example, there would be 1.2mg of nicotine per drop (24mg ÷ 20 drops). So, if you put three drops of e-liquid onto a cartridge (or directly onto the atomizer for those of you that “direct-drip”), that means you will be taking in 3.6mg of nicotine from the time you start vaping until you “top off” again. So I would go with 18 or 12mg e-juice if i was you!3 points -

I just read the new rules re: discussions of nicotine liquid strengths and wanted to share a story with you all. Nicotine is indeed a poison (yes-we all know) We are all human (again we know right?) Well-I have 3 small children and even though I would never purchase liquid at any higher dose than 36mgs (really it's enough of a savings for me as I like 12-18mgs) Anyway, last night I got my new mega cartomizers and was filling them on the counter-I had some major spillage and cleaned it up with my paper towel, my kids then 4 hours later got out some ice cream to eat and all of the sudden my daughter said "my tongue is burning" and she went and rinsed her mouth out, she still felt burning after and I had been thinking WTH is going on, and remembered that I had filled my carto there. My oldest son had set the big spoon down on the counter (where I had filled the carto and wiped it up with a papertowel) and my daughter had picked up the spoon and licked it. The point is-we love our nicotine-but it's strong, and now I will wipe up all my spills with a dish cloth and soap, AND thank goodness it was only 11 mgs.1 point -

I am also quite impressed that you would brave the potential admionishment by sharing a very important story of warning to others! We all make mistakes and learn by making mistakes! Great Job and listen to Kitsune, she really seems to know what she's talkin' about. I don't have any children of my own but that "don't call it juice comment was spot on!"1 point -
The Joye 510 and the Joye eGo use the same type of atomizers, and if you buy the 510 cartomizers those will work on both as well. The main difference between the two besides size is the eGo has amazing battery life. I get a solid 6-10 hours on one battery. I know how you feel about it not looking like a real cigarette and that was actually a problem I faced when I first started. That problem actually pushed me back into smoking again. Probably wont do the same for you but just understand that the smaller the battery the shorter the battery life. With most of the "ANALOG" looking e-cigs you are lucky to get an hour and a half, in my experience anyways. Most of the time I was only getting 30-40 minutes. However if the looking like an analog is important for you try the KR808 from the VT store http://www.vaportalkstore.com/categories/Revolution-e-Cig/. I had a similar device and it wasnt too bad. However if you want Great vapor production, Great flavor, and Great battery life then I recommend the eGo. Honestly it's what is keeping me going. Also check out this review by GrimmGreen for the eGo. He is a no BS kind of reviewer, and you will get a good idea as far as the size of the eGo. In all honesty though I wish I would have known about how great it would be to have a PV that has LONG battery life. It makes it so much easier. In my opinion its one less thing to worry about. If you add a drip tip to the mix it becomes even easier. Last but not least throw in a couple of cartos and its like vaping becomes such an easy habit to take on. The learning curve is still there but it becomes just so easy. More important to me than the PV looking like a cigarette is that I want it to be closer to the ease of use of just lighting up, and the set up I mentioned pretty much does that. Well as close as it can for an electronic device.1 point

Certainly I understand the purpose of posting your story. And I too am glad your daughter is ok. Nicotine this deluted will only cause discomfort and slight irritation. Had it been pure nicotine it would have been more serious. I don't even vape in front of my kids because they are only 6 and I don't want them to try copying me. As they get older it will become a different story. Sorry if I sounded preachy. I am just so freaking pissed at the FDA and critics and including some from our own community preaching. I just got banned from a vapor forum simply for speaking up for free speech and freedom. The hypocrisy runs high on both sides of the river. The forum I got banned from ridiculed the FDA for it's power struggle and for strangling our freedom and then they turn around and censor posts LMAO. I simply tell it like it is. Peace1 point -

Oh good info-see it's these little things that we may not think of. I don't believe I have discussed the liquid with the children at all, directly, but perhaps with my husband and they are such little sponges!! If I change my terminology now it will become a habbit and I will be less likely to slip. Good tip-thanks1 point -

Its always a good reminder for ourselves. As parents we have moments of clarity with our kids--I am mostly surprised that both my children survived to adulthood. Its amazing some of the stupid things I did when they were young--working night, sleep deprivation and raising children is not always a good combination. I am glad your daughter is ok--and it really is a good reminder. Thank you for sharing that !!1 point -

Love the reply lol! I do hear where you are coming from-I just thought I would post it as an FYI because even though I consider myself and intelligent, educated and responsible adult I make mistakes (as I am sure you do as well) and yes-I am responsible for my mistakes, but considering they are so easy to make-I honestly would not have thought that any of the e-liquid would have remained after I wiped it with a towel, let alone be transferred onto a spoon that set there for a minute. It was just an eye opening awareness and I wanted to share it.1 point -

Thank you for being brave enough to share your story so that we can all learn from it. I am so glad your little girl was ok. I always have baby wipes with me when I am filling and messing with juice, so if I spill I can get it up right away and there is no way that it is going to still be there. The other thing you might want to be careful about is calling it "JUICE" in front of the kids. Call it nicotine liquid or niquid or whatever don't let them thin its juice. Take care!1 point -
the 510 is a good place to start for most people. personally, the automatics were a bit of a pain. liquid can get into the battery and cause damage. I don't know if they have improved at all or not. The manual batteries seem a bit foreign at first--but very easy to get used to. I prefer being able to control my draw. overall the manual batteries seem to be much more durable. my automatic battery stopped working after the first week. Many suppliers sell the 510's and the PCC (charging case). Now, that being said--the ego/tornado is a bit bigger, but the battery life is significantly longer than the 510. a standard ego battery lasts me 8-10 hours, the 510 would last 1-2 hours. The ego does use the 510 atomizers--great for throat hit and vapor production. As far as liquids go, that is very subjective. I smoked Marlboro lights and I prefer 18 mg--strength of the liquid doesn't always correlate to what and how much you smoked. couple options: you can buy a lower nicotine liquid and mix them to get a lower overall strength use flavoring to improve the current liquid you have and lower the nic strength. DIY flavor shack or freedom smoke usa sell flavorings. buy some plain PG or VG liquid (0) nicotine and use that to dilute the liquid you already have.1 point
